Cleveland Museum of Natural History 2018 Conservation Symposium
September 7, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
In 1985, the term “biodiversity” was coined as a contraction of the words “biological” and “diversity.” It put a deceptively simple name to the complex idea of quantifying the variety of all life on Earth. In the decades since, every facet of biodiversity, from its precise definition to its value to conservation work and to people in general, has been the subject of discussion and debate. This year’s Conservation Symposium joins that ongoing conversation by focusing on biodiversity and its intersection with conservation. Join us for talks by conservation professionals about biodiversity in concept and practice — from how we should define it, to its connections to ecology, to how we should talk about it, both professionally and with the general public.
