Fourth Annual Kent State University Water and Land Symposium
October 5, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - October 6, 2016 @ 5:00 pmFree
Kent State’s 4th Annual Water and Land Symposium will be held on October 5th and 6th. This symposium attracts more than 300 attendees from the many universities, federal, state and regional agencies, and private companies that populate northeastern Ohio. This year we are delighted to have Cynthia Barnett, Journalist and author of Mirage, Blue Revolution and Rain: A Natural and Cultural History, long-listed for the National Book Award and finalist for the 2016 PEN/E.O. Wilson Award for Literary Science Writing as our keynote speaker. Cynthia will also be offering a book signing the evening of the keynote, which will also include our first poster session.
The second day of the conference will highlight new approaches to a variety of environmental and social issues through distinguished speakers and formal and informal discussions. A plenary session will set the stage for breakout sessions and posters in the afternoon. Breakout sessions will focus on “Restoration and Ecosystem Services,” “Water and Sustainability,” and “Risk and Resilience.” These breakout and poster sessions will provide an opportunity for more specific discussions focused on key underlying issues. Registration is free and open to the public.
